If you are a fan of quilting and track, this weekend belongs to you.
The quilting fan in you could go to the Coburg Quilt Show on Saturday, the Blackberry Jam Quilt Show in Lowell on Saturday or Sunday (where yours truly will be one of the judges) and the County Fair Quilt Exhibition.
The track fan in you could participate in or cheer on the runners in one of the Eugene Marathon events this weekend or head over to Hayward Field for the IAAF World Juniors Championships. I love that young athletes from all over the world are here and that in true Eugene style the runners in the 10,000 meter were encouraged by the U of O Brass and Percussion Ensemble playing an original composition designed to support the crowds rhythmic clapping by picking up the tempo at each lap. How cool is that! Nowhere else but in Eugene.
To my fellow fans of Q&T, I am offering a 15% savings on regularly priced fabric, Sunday only, if you show your entry bib to one of the Eugene Marathon events or proof of your volunteer status for one of the events. Keep on running and sewing!
Meanwhile, back to quilting. Mary Alice brought in this beauty to show us. Nicely done!
We (and by we, I really mean Tracy) whipped up a simple shopper out of the new cotton/linen blends. They are such a nice weight for this kind of thing.
Meet our favorite new cool thing...
We used these recently to mark the points on a ruler that we needed to use to line up blocks for trimming. It was really handy to have a quick visual reference. It saved a lot of time looking for the spots on the ruler and was more error-proof.
It would also work well for marking intersections that you need to reference repeatedly.
Lastly for today, BRAVO to the graduates of the kids beginning sewing class earlier this month. A good time was had by all. We look forward to next week's classes.
Have a great weekend!!!!
